The Importance of Breath

One of the most often overlooked aspects of our wellness is our breath. Growing up, many of us learn things like how to clean our teeth, what foods we should eat, and how to properly exercise. When it comes to breathing, we’re often told very little. We take about 20,000 breaths per day, and by the time we are 50, we will have taken over 40 million! Yet we often take this for granted and don’t spend time focusing on our breath or the impact that proper breathing has on us. One of the most important things for our wellness that we can do is to occasionally focus on our breath. Shallow and improper breathing can lead to a variety of health issues and create or exacerbate anxiety, panic attacks, and fatigue. Here are some simple breathing exercises almost anyone can do to help achieve some wellness goals including reducing stress, lowering blood pressure, and helping with fatigue. Of course there are many more. YouTube can be a great resource for finding some excellent breathing exercises that may work well for you as well.
